SmartBreakPoints (NT8) (SBP) is a part of the Smart Patterns Trading System of tools and is designed to show divergent conditions (to price action) in indicators by feeding the indicator into the SBP indicator. It is also excellent for showing certain types of support and resistance on price charts. It also outputs it’s condition for use in programming.
When I first began teaching trading, one of the first things I learned was it was difficult for traders sometimes to be able to see certain types of divergences. Further, it was difficult to see them before they happened (which is a very good thing to be able to do when trading; to know before). The SBP can solve this issue and help get you in the future. Smart BreakPoints are also useful when applied to your chart to Price. This makes it easy to see where the market is trending and the price action is staying intact.
SBP also works in any Ninjatrader mode of operation; On Each Tick, On Bar Close, On Price Change, and in Tick Replay modes. This can be useful for showing where the break condition has occurred AS it is happening.
Smart Break Points enables you to identify divergence patterns in virtually any indicator. Most commonly it is used on Oscillators like the Trapped Trader Oscillator (The Trapped Trader Oscillator Advanced has the SBP functionality built into it) or Smart Momentum. It can also be used on Price as a trend indicator and/or for Support / Resistance metrics.
Smart Break Points also enables you to send the output condition to Shark Indicators BloodHound and easily use in programming there for any number of line breaks. It can save you a lot of extra coding because of this. SBP is also a great indicator to use on price in addition to other indicators. SBP is an excellent way to learn to see important patterns in charts as taught in the Trading Room daily.

SBP may seem like a lesser indicator but it is not. Rob was teaching how the dots come early or late according to the trend. So it lets you know things in advance. Mostly I use it on the Smart Momentum. If I trade with the dots and with the trend it makes everything a lot clearer. I have also tried it on other indicators. It works with just about anything as far as I know. The new TTO has it built in so it is mostly for the momentum. I have also used it on Price directly to show the turns.
